SAFINA, SAADIYAT BEACH CLUB, ABU DHABI
Looking for a mini break? This is one of the island’s top getaway restaurants. The club has an air of sophistication that’s reminiscent of the French Riviera, from the views of the azure Gulf and the white-sand beach, to the stunning pool and cabanas.
The menu is a nod to the Mediterranean. Expect a vast selection of French and Italian seafood-focused dishes to choose from. We love the lobster linguine, which combines meaty morsels with al dente noodles, all bound in a light and creamy, but slightly spicy tomato sauce.
The head chef, from India, is also a fan of Asian cuisine and has created an excellent version of popcorn shrimp. It’s a dish you won’t find on the main menu, but Friday is Fisherman’s Wharf night, which presents a great deal – order one starter and main and you’ll get a free dessert buffet.
Chocolate lovers take note. The assiete is to die for! This beautifully presented dish is as decadent as it is beautiful and comes complete with gold leaf.
Book in advance. Its relative ‘in the middle of nowhere’ location means you’ll be waiting a good while for a cab, particularly on busy nights. So be sure to let them know you’re coming well in advance, and plan your transportation.
